Job Description
Understand the Business
• Build a comprehensive understanding of the current logistics landscape across APAC, including transportation, warehousing, distribution, third-party logistics providers, systems, and organizational capabilities.
• Build trusted relationships with regional and country leadership, manufacturing, planning, procurement, customer service, commercial, finance, and external logistics partners.
• Identify operational strengths, challenges, risks, and improvement opportunities through data analysis and stakeholder engagement.
• Develop a clear understanding of regional differences while identifying opportunities to standardize where appropriate.
Shape the Future Logistics Organization
• Develop recommendations for the future APAC logistics operating model aligned with global supply chain strategy.
• Define regional governance, decision-making processes, performance management routines, and standard operating practices.
• Recommend future organizational structure, capability requirements, and resource needs.
• Build business cases supporting logistics improvements and future organizational development.
• Develop implementation roadmaps that balance business priorities with operational readiness.
Drive Regional Logistics Excellence
• Provide regional leadership for domestic transportation, warehousing, distribution, reverse logistics, and third-party logistics operations.
• Improve logistics service, operational performance, cost management, and execution consistency across the region.
• Support resolution of complex logistics issues affecting customers, manufacturing sites, and distribution operations.
• Promote standardization while recognizing local business and regulatory requirements.
• Establish regional logistics performance reviews and governance routines.
Manage Logistics Partners
• Develop strategic relationships with regional carriers and third-party logistics providers.
• Establish clear service expectations and performance measures.
• Conduct regular business reviews focused on safety, service, quality, cost, and continuous improvement.
• Partner with Procurement on logistics sourcing activities, supplier selection, and contract management.
Improve Performance
• Develop meaningful logistics KPIs and reporting.
• Improve visibility of transportation, warehousing, and logistics performance across APAC.
• Identify root causes of operational and cost challenges and develop sustainable corrective actions.
• Lead initiatives that improve productivity, customer service, reliability, and cost performance.
• Support digitalization, automation, and process simplification initiatives.
Collaborate Across the Business
• Serve as the primary regional logistics partner for Planning, Manufacturing, Procurement, Customer Service, Commercial, Finance, Quality, and Global Logistics teams.
• Ensure logistics considerations are incorporated into business decisions and regional planning activities.
• Represent APAC logistics within regional and global supply chain forums.
• Act as the regional escalation point for significant logistics issues.
• Build the Future Organization
• Initially operate as an individual contributor while establishing the regional logistics function.
• Define future logistics roles, responsibilities, and capability requirements.
• Support recruitment and onboarding of future team members as the organization grows.
• Build a culture focused on accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and customer service.
• Progressively assumes leadership responsibility for the regional logistics organization as it develops.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Logistics, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
• 7-10 years of progressive experience in logistics, transportation, warehousing, or supply chain operations.
• Experience working across multiple APAC countries.
• Strong understanding of transportation, warehousing, and third-party logistics operations.
• Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional initiatives and influencing stakeholders without direct authority.
• Experience developing or improving logistics processes, operating models, or regional capabilities.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Experience with SAP, TMS, WMS, and Microsoft Office.
• Professional proficiency in English is required. Proficiency in one or more APAC languages, including Mandarin Chinese, Japanese, Thai, Bahasa Indonesia, Vietnamese, or Malay, is considered an advantage.
Preferred Qualifications
• Master's degree in a relevant discipline.
• Experience within manufacturing or industrial supply chains.
• Experience supporting organizational transformation or operating model design.
• Experience with SAP S/4HANA.
• APICS, Lean Six Sigma, or equivalent professional certification.
• Additional Asian language skills are an advantage.
