Job Description
1. Research and analyze customers’ design proposals, specifications, manuals or other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost, and performance of designs. Translate system configurations received from customers into concept designs with 2D and 3D assemblies, Bills of Material (BOM’s) and shop drawings. Designs may be new or based on existing products. Build and test prototypes or coordinate builds.
2. Follow Customer’s design standards, select components from preferred components list, and create bills of material. Provide mechanical designs and recommendations based on packaging engineering principles.
3. Provide technical advice and support to fabrication and coordination of manufacturing. Conduct tests to evaluate packaging performance.
4. Assist marketing and sales(PM) with technical support, cost estimates and schedule estimates. Communicate technical aspects of projects to customers. Make joint calls with sales personnel to customers’ facilities to address technical inquires. Communicate with Sales(PM), Customers and Executive Management to resolve significant issues or barriers.
5. Act as technical authority on assigned projects, working with a variety of materials like wood, molded pulp, corrugated, foam and other packaging materials. Assist drafters in developing the structural design of products using drafting tools or computer-assisted design (CAD) or drafting equipment and software.
6. Local assistance to finish organization’s tasks for all awarded DT, AIO, NB, FPM and Server business in Taiwan. Deliver packing samples to ODM or finish testing on time to catch up project's schedule. Local sourcing for materials, suppliers and 3rd party Labs if necessary. Rapidly fix issues happened during testing, and fast pass in next round. Finally, deliver test reports to customer and team soon after testing.
Qualifications
1) Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Package Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or related engineering field from four-year College or university.
2) 5 years related experience and/or training in a manufacturing, plant operations, or engineering environment.
3) Ability to communicate in English (written and verbal) is required.
4) Must have practical knowledge of and experience with mechanical drafting and documentation. Experience with and ability to perform calculations to support design choices required.
5) Must be proficient in MS office software and CAD and Solid Modeling software packages (AutoCAD and Solidworks preferred)
6) Previous work experience in desktop, server, or portables packaging is a plus.
