Summary
  • This position evaluates, assess in-patients and out-patients referred to Cardiac Rehabilitation regarding readiness and response to exercise/activity. This position independently supervises and instructs patients in exercise prescription and progression and facilitates lifestyle modification through patient education.
  • This position works under the supervision of Director and is employed by Mosaic Health System.
Duties
  • Completes initial assessment of referred patient and daily assessment during activity sessions regarding patient cardiovascular response and ability to progress activity.
  • Supervises the cardiac rehab inpatient and outpatient during exercise session in consultation with the R.N. to carry out safe and appropriate age-specific exercise prescription.
  • Develops a plan for individual patient’s educational needs, teaches and documents completion of plan.
  • Calculates and analyzes patient data to develop appropriate exercise prescriptions.
  • Engages in patient/family and community teaching programs.
Qualifications
  • Exercise Science Degree or related health care field with emphasis/experience in facilitating lifestyle modification and wellness focus.
  • BCLS, ACLS training recommended; Exercise Specialist (ACSM) or eligible.
  • One year experience in a hospital Cardiac Rehabilitation program or related health care area. Knowledge of EKG monitoring, basic arrhythmia skills preferred. Acute care basic clinical data skills.
