Summary
  • This position supports and assists in all facets of Home Services including intake referral center, prior authorizations, verification of insurance eligibility and benefits, pre-billing processes, as well as clerical support to the Home Services clinical team. Performs all other duties as assigned.
  • This position works under the supervision of the Home Services Billing Manager and is employed by Mosaic Health System.
Duties
  • Possesses the highest customer service skills as the first touch in the patient experience chain as an integral member of the Home Services intake referral center.
  • Acts as a patient liaison in a centralized contact center for Mosaic Life Care Home Services. Triage patient calls using standards of care and responds appropriately.
  • Accurately enters a variety of data into information systems to produce patient’s medical record, insurance information and other required admission and recertification information.
  • Verifies insurance eligibility and benefits and obtains prior authorizations when indicated by insurance. Researches the patient’s insurance to ensure that benefits are available for the service and to determine the patient’s financial responsibility. Works with patients’ insurance companies to determine if benefits are available for service at our facility.
  • Assists the functions of billing, patient care management, intake and clerical through timely and accurate data entry and system reporting. Identifies when a third-party administrator is responsible for billing of service such as Workers Compensation or Lien.
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • All required education is a minimum requirement. Higher levels of education are acceptable. High School Diploma required. Medical terminology preferred.
  • Computer knowledge and experience and customer service required. Medical billing experience highly preferred. Home Health and/or Hospice experience, experience with CERNER, MS Office and flow charting, experience with talking to insurance companies and obtaining prior authorizations preferred.
