Summary

• This position is responsible for evaluating a caregiver's performance and ensuring that staff are competent. Works with the Laboratory director and Pathologists to determine goals of the department. Performs microtomy, stains, and monitors documentation, complies statistical data for management. Reviews QC, CAP surveys and department QA's. Evaluates new stains, trains new caregivers, writes procedure, and ensures CAP compliance. Rotates call as needed. Gives excellent customer service. This position works under the supervision of the Laboratory Director to provide oversight of the histology department and is employed by Mosaic Life Care.
  
  

Duties

• Resource person for laboratory staff, physician, nurses, office personal and internal/external customers. Is responsible for investigating and resolving any issues/concerns that are identified. Keeps department CAP compliant.
• Recognizes instrument issues, malfunction and takes appropriate action.
• Trains/orients new hires, evaluating their performance and competency.
• Other duties as assigned
  
  

Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma is required. Associate's Degree is preferred. Bachelor's Degree is preferred
• HT - Histology Tech ASCP, or HTL - Histology Technologist ASCP upon hire is required.
• 2 Years histology laboratory experience is required. Training orientation will be up to eight weeks is required.
