Summary
  • This position is an entry leadership position and will assist in the development of a statewide teleSANE program. This includes identifying and establishing a relationship with regional satellite sites for which Mosaic's Forensic Program will provide teleSANE services. The coordinator will collaborate with other hub locations, satellite sites, MO telehealth, and Department of Health and Senior Services to design, analyze, modify, and evaluate the teleSANE program.
  • Additionally, this role includes assisting the Forensic Program Coordinator in directing the functions of the Forensic Program in caring for victims of abuse including sexual assault, child abuse, elder abuse, and domestic abuse. This includes program planning and development to ensure the Forensic Program and organization is compliant in maintaining local, state, and national guidelines for Forensic patients. This role combines education, orientation, and mentoring to assure efficient performance.
  • Principle responsibilities will include supporting the overall clinical care and function of the Forensic trained caregivers. The Forensic Program coordinator will assess, monitor, and educate the staff on patient care and ensure safe, compliant care while meeting patient needs and the community needs. Additionally, the coordinator collaborates within the health system with other specialty areas regarding aspects of forensic care, and externally with other multidisciplinary persons/departments to ensure that the program functions optimally. The TeleSANE Forensic Program Coordinator strives to improve the quality of care received by victims of violent crimes through direct and indirect patient care, professional public education, consultation, development of standards and protocols, interdisciplinary collaboration, and research.
  • This position reports to the Director and the Forensic Program Coordinator and is employed by Mosaic Health Systems.
Duties
  • Responsible for leading the Forensic Program in providing 24/7 SANE coverage to regional satellite sites for which we are offering teleSANE services.
  • Provide education and mentorship to satellite staff on SANE/SAFE, evidence collection and storage, trauma-informed care, and court testimony.
  • Collaborate with other satellite sites, pilot sites, MO telehealth, and DHSS to design, develop, analyze, modify, and reevaluate the SAFE-T program.
  • Assist with the coordination of recruitment, orientation and mentoring of nurses to the Forensic Program. Participates in programs to promote the program as well.
  • Assists in development, coordination, and evaluation of educational activities related to the Forensic Program. Functions in a teaching and a collaborative role. Prepares a schedule insuring 24/7 Forensic Nurse coverage.
  • Collects statistics related to forensic patients. Record these statistics and coordinates development of a quality assurance processes. Maintains knowledge of current clinical concepts and practices.
  • Works collaboratively with local multidisciplinary team members to include law enforcement, District Attorney’s Office, Missouri State Highway Patrol Crime Lab in Jefferson City, local victims’ services and actively participates on multidisciplinary teams.
  • Aware of regulatory standards, requirements, and assists in facilitation of implementation and compliance.
  • Coordinates meetings within the organization and the community to ensure our customers, caregivers, providers, community members, and legal departments are up to date with current forensic issues and training.

Qualifications
  • All required education is a minimum requirement. Higher levels of education are acceptable. Diploma or Degree from an accredited school of nursing and bachelor's degree BSN are required.
  • RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure And/or Compact State Licensure in the State of Missouri or Kansas, depending upon designated work location is required. Driver's License - Valid And In State is required. Clinical\BCLS - Basic Life Support within 90 days of hire is required. SANE-A - Sexual Assault Nurse Exam Adult within 120 days is required State and National Involvement with the advancement of Forensic Nursing through membership in the International Association of Forensic Nurses (IAFN) is required. Completes 20 hours of continuing education every year regarding the issues of sexual assault and forensic examinations is required.
  • Broad experiences as a staff nurse with conceptual knowledge of nursing process and 3 years Completed an approved sexual assault nurse examiners program and functioned as sexual assault nurse examiner for acute cases is required.
