Summary
  • This position administers quality patient care according to established standards. May be required to work in other areas according to skill of staff and acuity of patients. Provides exceptional service to all patients and customers.
  • This position works under the supervision of the Director and under the direction of an RN/LPN or Provider and is employed by Heartland Long Term Acute Care Hospital.
Duties
  • Completes daily Activities of Daily Living to meet patient’s needs i.e. personal hygiene, dressing patients, linen change.
  • Takes and records vital signs including pulse oximetry.
  • Transports patients as appropriate.
  • Collects and transports urine, stool and sputum samples for testing when assigned; completes Point of Care testing.
  • Lifts, turns, repositions and ambulates patients, alone or with assistance.
Qualifications
  • All required education is a minimum requirement. Higher levels of education are acceptable. PCA education requirements: a. an Unlicensed Assistive Personnel (UAP) training program in the last three years, or b. a fundamentals of nursing course, or c. a certified nursing assistant program with obtainment of certification (C.N.A.), or d. a graduate of a professional or practical nursing program who did not pass the state licensure examination in the past three years or e. A graduate of a professional or practical nursing program outside the United States and awaiting licensure in this country
  • BLS certification must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
  • In lieu of a. through e. listed above in the Education section, documented experience working for one year as a nurse assistant in an inpatient setting in the past three years will qualify for this position. In Home Health, 6 months of Hospital/Nursing Home experience is required.
