Job Description
The Graduate Nurse (RN) Inpatient works under the supervision of leadership. The GN Inpatient assesses, plans, implements, evaluates and supervises individual patient care according to standards. Accepts responsibility for direction of co-workers in the implementation of plans of care. May be required to work in other areas according to skill of staff and acuity of patient. Provides exceptional service to all patients and customers.The Graduate Nurse position is time limited. A person may remain in the Graduate Nurse position until one of the following occurs: 1) They become a Registered Nurse (RN) licensed in their designated working state OR 2) They receive a failing score on the nurse licensure exam and are moved to another position in which they qualify.

Essential Technical/Motor Skills

Responsibilities
- Completes assessment/reassessment of patient and documents in medical record.
- Analyzes the information collected to determine patient’s needs and expected outcomes.
- Develops and implements plan of care based upon the assessment, diagnosis, and expected outcomes of patient.
- Ensures a discharge plan is a part of the individualized plan of care as appropriate to the population served.
- Engages in patient/family/staff teaching to achieve the desired patient outcomes.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Recent graduate of a school of nursing - Required
- Bachelor's Degree - BSN - Preferred
Licenses and Certifications
- Registered Nurse (RN) - State Licensure/Or Compact State Licensure - State Licensure/Or Compact State Licensure in state, depending upon designated work location - Required within 90 Days
- Basic Life Support (BLS) - Required within 90 Days
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) - IF working in an inpatient area in which ACLS is required within 90 Days

Essential Technical/Motor Skills
- Ability to give injections, administer medications, change dressings; fine motor skills, eye/hand coordination, answer phone, data entry.
- Displays a friendly, positive attitude and communicates with patients, families, physicians and co-workers in a professional manner.
- Must walk, move, kneel, crouch, stoop, reach, stand, push, pull, and lift, speak clearly Must follow good body mechanics.
- Ability to collect thorough information regarding patient's condition and evaluate effects of care.
- Problem solve, manipulate numbers, be adaptable, interpret data, perform calculations, comprehend verbal and written communication, explain information, possess good short and long-term memory.
- Ability to visually assess patient condition; must be able to communicate with patient in order to assess condition and evaluate effects of care. Visual, hearing, feeling, smell.
- Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, blood and body fluids, needle sticks and other conditions common to a medical environment.
