Job Description

The Rehabilitation Aide works under the supervision of Registered Nurse, Registered Physical Therapist, Registered Occupational Therapist or Speech Language Pathologist. Responsible for assisting therapist, including PTA and COTA in patient treatment, preparation of therapy area pre and post therapy, and transporting patients to and from Therapy Department.

Responsibilities

  • Assists therapist with treatment.
  • Prepares, manages and updates patient assignment schedule.
  • Transports patients to and from therapy.
  • Orders supplies and laundry.
  • Assists with patient scheduling and appropriate documentation.
  • May assist nursing staff with bathing, toileting and dressing patients.
  • Prepares treatment area.
  • Other duties assigned.

Education

  • H.S. Diploma - Required

Work Experience

  • 1 Year - Direct patient care - Preferred

Licenses and Certifications

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - Required within 90 Days
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) - Preferred Upon Hire

Travel Requirements

  • Must be able to travel between various system facilities and off site locations as needed. - Required

Essential Technical/Motor Skills

  • Normal fine motor coordination, manipulation of small items, speaking clearly, input data.

Interpersonal Skills

  • Normal ability to interact socially and communicatively with other people

Essential Physical Requirements

  • Normal strength, endurance and balance.
  • Walking, standing, reaching, kneeling, crouching, moving, stooping, lifting.
  • Pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 35 pounds.

Essential Mental Abilities

  • Analysis, synthesis, long term and short term memory within normal limits; understand, explain, forecast, follow rules/instructions.

Essential Sensory Requirements

  • Visual skills, feeling, and hearing.

Exposure to Hazards

  • Minimal exposure to topical anesthetics, disinfectants, and body fluids.
  • Exposure to extreme heat when using hydrocollators.
