Role Description The Retail Pharmacist is a full-time, on-site role located in St. Joseph, MO. This role is responsible for accurately dispensing prescription medications, verifying orders, and ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and Mosaic Life Care policies. Day-to-day responsibilities include counseling patients on proper medication use, potential side effects, and drug interactions, as well as collaborating with prescribers and other caregivers to optimize medication therapy and resolve prescription-related issues. The Retail Pharmacist oversees medication safety and quality processes, performs clinical checks, and supports immunization and health screening programs as permitted. Additional tasks include maintaining inventory, supervising pharmacy support staff, using pharmacy information systems, and contributing to a positive, patient-focused experience.

Qualifications

  • Strong clinical pharmacy skills, including prescription verification, drug utilization review, and patient counseling on safe and effective medication use.
  • Proficiency with pharmacy management systems, electronic health records, and related technology used in retail and outpatient care settings.
  • Knowledge of federal and state pharmacy laws, regulations, and standards, with a commitment to medication safety and accurate documentation.
  • Effective communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills for working with patients, caregivers, and interdisciplinary health care teams.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage workflow in a high-volume setting, and work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or equivalent degree from an accredited school of pharmacy.
  • Current, unrestricted pharmacist license (or eligibility for licensure) in the state of Missouri.
  • Certification in immunization administration and experience in retail or outpatient pharmacy practice are preferred.
