Summary
  • This position assists in treatment planning procedures, including tumor localization, virtual simulation and dosimetry, isodose plans, and all calculations associated with such planning. Assists physicist in quality assurance of treatment machines. Assists physician and physicists in brachytherapy procedures and in the radiation safety surveys associated with those procedures.
  • This position works under the direct supervision of the Director and Radiation Physicist and is employed by Mosaic Health System.
Duties
  • Does virtual simulation on patients with information from C.T.
  • Produce computer isodose distributions for external beam treatments. Produce computer irregular field calculations. Prepare gap calculations, extended SSD calculations, and off-axis point calculations as necessary.
  • Prepares isodose distributions and calculations for brachytherapy cases.
  • Performs 2-D, 3-D, IMRT, SBRT, and stereostactic radiosurgery external beam treatment planning and dose calculations, both manual and computerized.
  • Supports the technical staff in the implementation of the treatment plan, i.e., correct use of the immobilization device, compensators, wedges, field arrangements, and other parameters.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of accredited program in radiology technology and of an accredited program in radiation therapy. Graduate of an accredited dosimetry program or two years’ experience under a credentialed Physicist.
  • Registered Radiation Therapist is required and certified by Medical Dosimetry Certification Board or Board eligible.
  • Two years of experience with dosimetry to include IMRT, 3-D treatment planning and brachytherapy. Experience with stereotactic radiosurgery is preferred.
