Summary
  • This position reports to the Administrator of the Long Term Acute Care Hospital. This position is responsible for the functions, activities, and training of the nursing services staff for the LTACH. This position plans, directs, and manages the day-to-day operations of the nursing services of the Hospital and ensures a positive working relationship among the staff.
  • This position works in conjunction with the Chief Medical Officer and is employed by Heartland Long Term Acute Care Hospital.
Duties
  • Assumes overall responsibility for day-to-day operations of the nursing services of the LTACH and, in conjunction with the professional staff, plans, coordinates, manages, and evaluates nursing programs and services of the LTACH promoting a team approach to the delivery of patient care provided by the LTACH.
  • Ensures that the competency, numbers, and staff levels of the nursing and supervisory staff are appropriate to meet the immediate and complex needs of patients served.
  • In cooperation with the Hospital Administrator, identifies resource requirements, sets overall standards of nursing productivity, and evaluates effectiveness of resource utilization.
  • Coordinates clinical program development with the Administrator, Chief Medical Officer, and the nursing staff.
  • Provides guidance and counsel to the case manager(s) to assure appropriate patient volumes and diagnostic mix.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree of Nursing from an accredited university program and a Masters degree in related health services preferred.
  • Active State License as a Registered Nurse
  • Five years clinical experience as a Registered Nurse in an acute care hospital, preferably in critical care.
