| Job Summary | The Stockroom Assistant will assist the Science Stores/Laboratory Coordinator for the Departments of Chemistry and Biology with a variety of tasks associated with the general operation and function of laboratory activities in the Department of Biology. Assistant will report to the Science Stores/Laboratory Coordinator and all work duties will take place within the Biology Department laboratories and prep rooms. |
| Essential Duties | 1. Help prepare laboratory experiment set up and break down 2. Reshelve chemical reagents in laboratories and storerooms 3. Update chemical and equipment inventory as needed 4. Maintain labs and storerooms to be clean, efficient, and well-stocked 5. Wash laboratory glassware and other materials 6. Prepare chemical solutions for general lab use 7. Care of plants and/or small animals in the lab and/or greenhouse |
| Required Qualifications | MWSU Student Degree Seeking At least an overall 2.0 GPA Enrolled at least part-time (6 hours) May need to qualify for federal work study |
| Preferred Qualifications | Prefer Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry or other Natural Sciences course of study. |
| Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities | • Good organizational skills and attention to detail • Attitude for working safely under all conditions • Good computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Google calendars |
| Physical Demands | Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. |
| Additional Demands | May be subjected to fumes, odors, dusts, gases, poor ventilation, chemicals, and oils. |
