Job Summary
The Communication Champions work with a team of students making telephone calls to Missouri Western Alumni asking for their financial support for Missouri Western. The individual serves as a student ambassador by educating alumni about the importance of financial support, informing alumni about current and upcoming events and activities and updating alumni records. Communication Champions are vital to the success of fundraising at Missouri Western and to maintaining strong relationships with alumni and parents. Students are the best ambassadors to talk about the Missouri Western experience – because you’re living it!

Working on the Phonathon team is an excellent opportunity to develop your knowledge and expertise in communication, fundraising, and public relations.
Essential Duties
  • Serve as an ambassador by establishing an open line of communication between the university and its supporters
  • Gain a greater understanding of the university, its organizational structure, and its annual needs for financial support
  • Call constituents (alumni, parents, and friends of Missouri Western) to build personal rapport, update demographic information, and acquire gifts to the Annual Fund
  • Work with other student callers in a team-oriented environment to achieve institutional goals
  • Handle personal information with extreme confidentiality
  • Have a great time and make new friends
  • Arrive for work on time and prepared

  • Degree Seeking
  • At least an overall 2.0 GPA
  • Enrolled at least part-time
  • May need to qualify for Federal Work Study financial aid assistance.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • This position requires strong verbal and written communication skills, a problem-solving mentality, the ability to think strategically in a fast -paced environment, and a genuine affinity for MoWest.
  • Possess strong telephone etiquette skills
  • Possess a strong customer service mentality
  • Proficient on a PC computer with general computer skills
Physical Demands Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
