Job Summary
The Student Financial Services Office Assistant provides exceptional customer service to students, families, faculty, and staff by supporting the daily operations of the Student Financial Services Office. This position assists with both financial aid and student accounts functions through frontline customer service, document management, administrative support, and special projects while maintaining confidentiality and accuracy.
Essential Duties
The Student Financial Services Office Assistant is responsible for:
  • Providing excellent customer service in person, over the phone, and through email
  • Assisting students and families with general Student Financial Services questions and direct them to appropriate staff when necessary
  • Assisting students with completing financial aid applications and forms
  • Answering phones and respond to routine inquiries
  • Scan, image, index, and electronically file documents into student records
  • Verifying student information for accuracy while maintaining confidentiality
  • Assisting with document processing and administrative projects
  • Supporting front counter operations and daily office functions
  • Assisting with payment processing and other cashiering support as assigned
  • Assisting with distribution of student refunds, checks, or other office materials following established procedures
  • Assisting with data entry, report preparation, and other clerical tasks
  • Maintaining an organized workspace and assist with filing and records management
  • Learning and following University, federal, and departmental policies and procedures
  • Performing other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications

  • Degree Seeking
  • At least an overall 2.0 GPA
  • Enrolled at least part-time
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous customer service experience
  • Experience working in an office environment
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Gmail)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of student information
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently while collaborating effectively with others
  • Willingness to learn new software systems and office procedures
  • Dependable with strong attendance and punctuality
  • Ability to work a consistent weekly schedule
Physical Demands Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
