Job Summary
Missouri Western State University is accepting applications for a Part-Time Faculty (Adjunct) for the Early College Academy (ECA). The Department will review applications for one part-time faculty in the area of Anatomy and Physiology for the upcoming fall semester. The primary responsibilities will be teaching Anatomy and Physiology lectures and labs for high school dual credit students. Under general supervision, Adjuncts will plan and implement curriculum for assigned course(s); effectively communicate class content to students; evaluate students’ progress in attaining goals, objectives, and student learning outcome in a timely manner.
Essential Job Duties
  • Adhere to all applicable university academic and employment policies identified in the Employee and Faculty handbooks and academic catalogs.
  • Develop course syllabus for applicable Anatomy and Physiology course(s) assigned. The syllabus will include learning objectives and any required university information.
  • Distribute the syllabus to campus administration and enrolled students.
  • Develop and instruct applicable curriculum with the depth and scope of class materials as outlined in the syllabus and catalog.
  • Relate instruction to course and academic program outcomes as may be defined by course or program assessment plans.
  • Prepare and grade exams and assignments based on course objectives, and post most assignments/graded work in a timely manner.
  • Plan, coordinate, and implement in-person lab sections.
  • Submit grades at the appropriate time. Implement evaluation of outcomes assessments and achieve established results while maintaining college standards and student satisfaction
  • Be responsive to student inquiries in a timely and professional manner
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Department Chair, College Dean, or ECA Director
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree (with 18 content-specific graduate hours in Biology or a related discipline; emphasis in Anatomy and Physiology)
  • Teaching experience Content area experience
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree or higher in Biology or a related discipline with content-specific graduate coursework preferred
  • Teaching experience in higher education or in a dual-credit format
  • Professional experience in related area

Physical Demands Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
