Position Title Assistant Director of Housing and Residence Life
Job Description
The Assistant Director of Housing and Residence Life provides strategic leadership and day-to-day management for residential communities that support student learning, engagement, and well-being. Reporting to the Assistant Dean and Director of Housing and Residence Life, this role supervises professional staff and indirectly supervises student staff, manages key operational areas, and contributes to departmental planning, assessment, and crisis response. The Assistant Director plays a vital role in advancing a safe and student-centered residential experience.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Supervises and develops professional and student staff, including direct supervision of Residence Life Coordinators; indirect supervision of Resident Assistants and Desk Assistants; and oversight of staff selection, training, scheduling, and leadership development.
  • Leads residential community development and programming, designing, implementing, and assessing community-building models and strategies that support student engagement, belonging, and retention.
  • Manages residential operations and conduct, including student duty scheduling, serving as an on-call responder for emergencies, and participating in the student conduct process as a hearing officer.
  • Coordinates assessment and continuous improvement efforts, developing and administering evaluations such as quality-of-life surveys, program assessments, and student staff evaluations.
  • Collaborates across campus on high-impact initiatives including new student move-in and checkout, camps and conferences, and other University and community initiatives.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 3 or more years of relevant professional experience
  • 3 or more years of Supervisory experience
  • Valid driver’s license
