Position Title Audio Visual (AV) Technician
Job Description
Missouri Western State University invites an experienced Audio Visual (AV) Technician to join our Technology Services Team. The Audio Visual (AV) Technician is responsible for designing classroom, instructional, and general campus audio, video and network technologies to ensure that the University keeps pace with the changing needs of higher education environments.

This position will provide project management over AV projects including video conferencing, streaming and network abilities, installing and building out these systems, supporting, managing outside parties contracted to perform a scope of work.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Perform all skilled tasks required to support the audio-visual infrastructure, including planning, designing, implementing, and troubleshooting the structure of solutions and wide array of technologies.
  • Understand university technical needs, define system specifications and best practices, and provide audio-visual support to all university constituents with assistance and advice as required.
  • Collaborate with all university departments to determine their audio-visual needs and suggest integration methods.
  • Install, monitor, and maintain the university’s classroom audio-visual equipment, security cameras, and CCTV systems.
  • Evaluate and communicate system and cost requirements to leadership to ensure implementation of agreed architecture and infrastructure of vendors and internal resources.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:
  • Knowledge of network operations and cable management.
  • Knowledge of how CCTV systems and cameras operate.
  • Knowledge of the relevant specific technology designed for higher education.
  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Good knowledge of audio visual systems and the ability to install them and troubleshoot issues.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work as well as concentrate on multiple tasks simultaneously.
Required Qualifications
  • This position requires the completion of some college coursework, licensure, training, or certification in Computers, Networking, or a related field.
  • Must have one to three years of experience working with audio-video and network infrastructures.
  • Valid driver’s license
Preferred Qualifications
Certificates and training in hardware and software troubleshooting.
Physical Demands
  • General office and indoor conditions. Exposed to moderate noise levels.
  • Incumbents may occasionally be subjected to electrical currents, moving mechanical parts, vibrations, fumes, odors, dust, chemicals, poor ventilation, inadequate lighting, inclement weather, and workspace restrictions.
  • Position requires the ability to exert up to 45 pounds of force on rare occasions.
  • Requires the ability to climb, balance, kneel, stoop, and reach.
  • Required to use close vision and be able to focus.
  • Regularly required to talk and hear; frequently required to sit, stand, and bend at the knee and waist, and walk.
  • Must be able to have repetitive wrist, hand and/or finger movement to type and work on computer.
  • Must have finger dexterity and hand-eye coordination to work on computer, telephone, and related office equipment.
  • Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function.
