Position Title Admissions Assistant
Job Description
Missouri Western State University invites candidates for an Admissions Assistant position in the Department of Admissions. The Admissions Assistant is responsible for processing applications, evaluating high school transcripts to determine admissibility, completing Missouri Cori Curriculum Forms and assisting in the registration process and evaluation of transfer transcripts.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Employees may be directed to perform job related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.

  • Processes applications, which includes coding, processing, data entry, etc., and the disposition of all applications to the University
  • Evaluates high school transcripts, performs tabulation of course work, and enters information into the database to fulfill the requirement of the Missouri Core Curriculum Form
  • Corresponds with applicants and prospective applicants regarding admission requirements, college policies, transfer of credits, academic status, etc., and notifies currently enrolled students of failure to fulfill admissions requirements
  • Assists with evaluating undergraduate and graduate admissions applicants; assists with determining MWSU general education equivalencies; provides transcript evaluations for transfer students
  • Assists with providing information to various internal and external contacts to include other personnel and departments, high schools, other colleges, and off-campus agencies
  • Assists with registration and registration/orientation process and procedures and prepares and reviews files for admissibility
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

  • Evaluating, researching, and compiling data
  • Using computers and applicable software
  • Investigating and interpreting accredited college policies
  • Attention to detail
  • Calculating college transcript grade point averages quickly
  • Knowledge of High School and College transcripts
  • Experience in Banner preferred\
  • CRM Experience
  • Software applications
  • Applicable high school and college policies
  • Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction
Required Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED and one year of secretarial experience or equivalent.
  • One year of specialized training in administrative support or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate degree
  • Three years of administrative support or related office experience
Physical Demands
Sedentary work; exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
