Position Title | Locksmith |
Job Description | Provides safe and working doors, closers, handicap openers, gates, and electronic access throughout the campus, and issues and retrieves keys for all key carrying employees and students.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES: - Ensure all campus doors, closers, handicap openers, handles, and locks are in good working order.
- Ensure that locks to secure campus buildings when they are closed are maintained and in good working order.
- Issue and retrieve all employee and student keys, processing the related paperwork and inputting data as necessary for maintaining inventory.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: - Knowledge of key cutting and lock pinning procedures for several brands.
- Good knowledge of general locksmith practices and procedures.
- Ability to use basic computer programs and software.
- Organized thinker with exceptional attention to detail.
- Good verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work as well as concentrate on multiple tasks simultaneously.

Required Qualifications | - This position requires a High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Must have one to three years of experience working in a locksmith role.
- A valid driver’s license is required.

Physical Demands | - Requires the ability to climb, balance, kneel, stoop, and reach.
- Required to use close vision and be able to focus.
- Regularly required to talk and hear; frequently required to sit, stand, and bend at the knee and waist, and walk.
- Must be able to have repetitive wrist, hand and/or finger movement to type and work on computer.
- Must have finger dexterity and hand-eye coordination to work on computer, telephone, and related office equipment.
- Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function.

Additional Demands | - Overtime and essential demands on time as commonly associated with this position. (evening/weekends/essential personnel)
- Will generally work indoors.
- Will occasionally be required to work outdoors and may be exposed to inclement weather conditions and extreme temperatures.
- Exposed to the intense noise of equipment, machinery, and tools.
- Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, fumes, odors, dust, gases, poor ventilation, oils, inadequate lighting, workspace restrictions, and working at height.
- May, on rare occasions, be exposed to hazardous driving conditions.
