Position Title Director of Engineering and Infrastructure
Job Description
Missouri Western State University invites candidates to apply for the position of Director of Engineering and Infrastructure. The Director of Engineering and Infrastructure manages the engineering and infrastructure components of Technology Services, providing strategic direction, upper-tier support, and budget oversight for the area.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Supervise the engineering and infrastructure personnel, providing direction and administrative support to facilitate their job functions.
  • Provide upper-tier support for engineering and infrastructure technology, including developing and implementing solutions, maintaining existing solutions, and diagnosing issues.
  • Oversee the engineering and infrastructure budgets.
  • Plan for recurring and new expenditures; optimize costs; authorize new expenditures as necessary.
  • Coordinate engineering and infrastructure technology installation or alterations in coordination with new construction or remodel efforts.
  • Investigate new or alternative engineering and infrastructure technologies to optimize available services for all campus constituents and maximize service availability and cost optimization.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in network infrastructure, server management, storage management, application management, information security, and data center management.
  • Knowledge of education and presentation technologies.
  • Knowledge of budget management.
  • Ability to manage and supervise more junior staff members.
  • Ability to identify long-term strategic initiatives.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs and other general office software and equipment.
  • Organized thinker with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work as well as concentrate on multiple tasks simultaneously.
Required Qualifications
  • This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Must have five to ten years of experience in working in technology services.
  • Knowledge of VMWare Virtual Technologies.

Physical Demands
  • Works in indoor conditions. Exposed to moderate noise levels.
  • Incumbents may occasionally be subjected to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibrations, fumes, odors, dust, gases, poor ventilation, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, workspace restrictions, and working at height.
  • Position requires the ability to exert up to 75 pounds of force occasionally.
  • Requires the ability to climb, balance, kneel, stoop, and reach.
  • Required to use close vision and be able to focus.
  • Regularly required to talk and hear; frequently required to sit, stand, and bend at the knee and waist, and walk.
  • Must be able to have repetitive wrist, hand and/or finger movement to type and work on computer.
  • Must have finger dexterity and hand-eye coordination to work on computer, telephone, and related office equipment.
  • Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function.
