Position Title International Student Coordinator
Job Description
The International Student Coordinator works with international students on F and J visas. This position supports the admissions process of international students and provides support services for Missouri Western’s international students, including orientation programs and programs to enhance the international student experience throughout the year. Serves as a designated school official (DSO) for processing student visas as authorized by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and U.S. Department of State, respectively.

Supervision: Student Employees

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Provides support services for international students including individual and group advising.
  • Collaborates with key campus stakeholders to implement international student programs.
  • Conducts assessments of programs and uses data for continuous improvement.
  • Monitors operational budgets and allocation of expenditures related to international student programs.
  • Provides training for faculty and staff across campus to enable them to work effectively with international students.
  • Works in cooperation with the Office of Admissions to admit international students to the University and works with faculty in efforts related to Study Abroad and Student and Faculty Exchange programs.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree and three years’ experience related to international student advising/counseling in a higher education environment
  • Ability and experience in managing SEVIS systems
  • Significant experience in working with immigration regulations particularly with F visas and J visas.
  • Evidence of effective collaboration with faculty.
  • Experience as a PDSO (or DSO) and ARO.
  • U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident (U.S. Federal regulations requirement for an (PDSO/ADO/DSO);
  • Valid Driver’s license

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge and ability to provide international student immigration advising;
  • In depth knowledge and demonstrated ability to interpret and apply federal laws, regulations and policies related to international students and scholars;
  • International student programming and support strategies.
  • Working knowledge of DHS and SEVIS requirements;
  • Strong organization and presentation skills;
  • Interpersonal and intercultural communication
  • Demonstrated ability to support international students in a higher education environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree
  • Experience traveling/studying internationally
Physical Demands
  • Sedentary Work
  • Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
