Shift: 2nd Shift

Schedule: Monday - Friday, some Saturday & occasional Sundays to support operations.

Hours: 1:00 PM to 9:30 PM (flex as needed). Must be able and willing to work weekends and overtime.

This position is eligible for overtime pay and is paid weekly.

Summary: The Distribution Administrator is responsible for providing administrative, system, and documentation support for outbound distribution operations at the Tyson Foods St. Joseph facility. This role ensures accurate and timely processing of shipping documentation, coordination of outbound loads, compliance with USDA and customer requirements, and effective communication with internal teams, carriers, and corporate stakeholders. The Distribution Administrator plays a critical role in maintaining shipment accuracy, minimizing delays, supporting inventory integrity, and ensuring regulatory compliance within a high-volume food manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities:

Outbound Shipping & Documentation

  • Prepare, verify, and release all outbound shipping documentation, including Bills of Lading (BOLs), packing lists, and customer-specific paperwork.
  • Ensure shipment accuracy by validating product codes, quantities, lot numbers, production dates, and destination requirements.
  • Coordinate shipment releases in compliance with USDA, QA, and food safety requirements, including government holds and releases.
  • Maintain accurate shipping records to support audits, traceability, and customer inquiries.

System & Data Management

  • Execute shipping transactions in SAP and associated systems, including delivery creation, goods issue posting, and shipment confirmations.
  • Monitor and resolve system discrepancies related to open deliveries, past-due shipments, inventory variances, or blocked stock.
  • Maintain accurate shipment, carrier, and order data to support reporting and KPI tracking.

Carrier & Logistics Coordination

  • Communicate with carriers, transportation providers, and internal logistics teams to schedule and confirm outbound loads.
  • Track truck arrivals, departures, and shipment status to ensure on-time performance.
  • Escalate carrier delays, missed appointments, or capacity issues to Distribution or Materials leadership.

Compliance & Audit Support

  • Ensure adherence to Tyson Foods policies, USDA/FDA regulations, customer requirements, and site-specific standard operating procedures.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing accurate distribution records, shipping logs, and documentation.
  • Maintain organized and audit-ready files for shipping and distribution activities.

Cross-Functional Communication

  • Serve as a liaison between Distribution, Production, QA, Warehouse, Customer Service, and Transportation teams.
  • Communicate shipment changes, shortages, rework impacts, or delays to appropriate stakeholders.
  • Support problem-solving efforts related to shipment discrepancies, customer complaints, or service failures.

Continuous Improvement & Administrative Support

  • Identify opportunities to improve shipping accuracy, documentation flow, and administrative efficiency.
  • Assist with KPI tracking such as on-time shipments, documentation accuracy, aged deliveries, and freight issues.
  • Provide general administrative support to the Distribution team, including reporting, data entry, and process documentation.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 2+ years of experience in distribution, logistics, shipping administration, or manufacturing support.
  • Working knowledge of shipping documentation (BOLs, packing lists, load manifests).
  • Experience using SAP or similar ERP systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a USDA-regulated food manufacturing or protein facility.
  • Familiarity with Tyson Foods distribution, QA, and compliance processes.
  • Understanding of inventory control, lot tracking, and traceability requirements.
  • Associate’s degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field.
