Summit Truck Bodies is looking for a Welding Robotic Programmer to increase production capacity through the programming and operating of our automated welding robotics.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide general programming and engineering support to robotic welding operations.
  • Optimization of current robotic welding programs to reduce cycle time and improve quality.
  • Follow defined weld schedules
  • Partner with the maintenance staff to define proper preventative maintenance schedules and ensure reliable operations.
  • Independently operate robotic welding equipment.
  • Successfully utilize fixtures as required to set up jobs.
  • Ability to make minor adjustments as needed to operate robotic welding equipment.
  • Responsible for product quality, workmanship and process applications consistent with the company’s manufacturing objectives.
  • Operational and setup knowledge of automated/robotic weld cells and resistance welders.
  • Knowledge on welding specification requirements, print reading, and weld evaluation techniques.
  • Other duties as assigned.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

  • Frequent mobility and / or sitting, standing, bending or stooping for prolonged / extended periods.
  • Requires lifting up to 50 pounds frequently.
  • Requires stretching to reach items up to 50 pounds.
  • Requires working in areas which are not ventilated or air-conditioned.
  • Requires eye-hand coordination sufficient to operate machinery.
  • Requires exposure to chemicals and solvents.
  • Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
  • Requires working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours.
  • Requires working in a fast-paced environment
  • Requires a normal range of hearing and vision
  • Must understand vague and implicit instructions and react favorably in all work situations
  • Must be able to communicate providing verbal feedback in a professional manner

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license with good standing MVR.
  • 1 year of experience in robotic welding or related role preferred.
  • Certified for all welding operations, methods, and processes preferred.
  • Excellent creativity, problem solving, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to utilize a computer with basic software skills.
  • Ability to successfully pass a General Abilities Assessment and Post-offer background check, physical and drug screening.
