We are seeking a dynamic professional to lead our excellent, local rural history museum in Savannah, Missouri. Enjoy our friendly, high quality, low stress environment.
Full-time or Part-time

Job Overview: The Director has primary responsibility to lead the organization in the continual pursuit of accomplishing its mission. This includes overseeing the effective day-to-day operations of the museum as well as leading for future growth and improvement. The director will work with / oversee finance, policy & compliance, personnel, facilities, etc., as well as working with the team on programming, activities, collections, exhibits and creating an exceptional visitor & volunteer experience. The director works with the ACM Board of Directors and serves as the ‘face’ of the museum.

Responsibilities
• Oversee day-to-day operations
• Prepare budget, monitor income/expenses, financial reporting, etc.
• Work with staff and board committees to formulate and carry out short and long range plans
• Policy – work with Board to review, revise & update policies and oversee the implementation
• Personnel – staff recruitment, hiring, training & evaluation
• Facilities – oversee maintenance & upkeep of building, grounds, services
• Provide creative leadership / oversight in the development, implementation and evaluation of mission-based programs, activities and exhibits.
• Plan for effective market of the museum and its programs / activities
• Serve as the public ‘face’ of the Museum

Requirements
• Bachelors degree in administration, education, communication, public history, museum or related area * Masters preferred
• Experience – 5+ years managing an organization / programs/ comparable
• Combination of education and experience will be considered
• Familiarity with our area and/or rural communities a plus
• Financial management skills (budgeting, monitoring & reporting, etc.)
• Working knowledge of office software, spreadsheets & databases
• Ability to work well independently and with a team
• Public relations – ability to connect and liaison with members, community, staff & volunteers
• Oral & written communication skills
• Comfortable in front of a group and out meeting new people, etc.

Salary & Benefits – Salary /benefits will vary depending on full-time or part-time status and experience. PTO, bereavement leave provided. Health, dental benefits available for full-time employment.
