News-Press NOW St. Joseph is looking for a hardworking meteorologist/MMJ to join our Storm Tracker weather team to provide comprehensive weekend weather coverage and report on weather/news stories three days per week.

In the event of impactful or severe weather, the weekend meteorologist/MMJ will provide supplemental coverage on and off camera with the evening meteorologist on duty. The weekend meteorologist/MMJ will also fill in as needed during the week when other meteorologists are off work.

Key Responsibilities:

• Produces and presents weather/news reports for all platforms.
• Writes and delivers weather/news stories in a clear and concise manner.
• Assists in writing, copy editing, researching and coordinating weather programming and other content.
• Responds to breaking and/or severe weather events and other urgent newsroom situations as required.
• Works closely with the weather team to deliver comprehensive weather coverage.
• Participates in promotional activities including public appearances.
• Writes web stories detailing the local forecast.
• The MMJ part of the job includes reporting three days a week.
• Posts content on digital platforms and social media.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in meteorology, atmospheric science, or a related field is preferred.
• Strong understanding of meteorological principles, weather analysis, and forecasting techniques.
• Ability to shoot video and edit stories.
• Experience in using social media platforms to engage with viewers and provide weather updates.
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
• Willingness and ability to work flexible hours and travel as needed.
