Description:
Purpose:

The Senior Maintenance Technician – Stockyards is responsible for the upkeep, repair, and optimization of machinery, equipment, and systems used in the animal feed drying and blending processes. This includes ensuring that all mechanical, electrical, and control systems are functioning properly to maintain production efficiency, quality standards, and safety compliance. This role will also be responsible for accurate reporting of all work performed using the company CMMS.

Role Accountabilities:

– Provide technical troubleshooting and training in the setup and operation of production equipment, including all aspects of mechanical systems such as Steam traps Heat exchangers, Valves, Pressure valves, Pumps, Motors, Bearings, Dryers and VFDs
– Provide basic electrical troubleshooting and maintenance support of instruments and controls
Hands-on troubleshooting requiring root cause failure analysis, PMs, testing, repairs, and modifying/improving equipment.
– Provide practical and proactive problem-solving skills.
– Record all maintenance activities in the company CMM to accurately track job time, job steps and parts usage
– Maintain proper stock of tools and parts to perform routine work
– Organize and maintain accurate spare parts inventory in alignment with the Senior Manager of Spare Parts and Supplies Procurement/Inventory
– Calibrate and maintain equipment to manufactures' specifications
– Diagnose and test malfunctioning equipment and discuss the plan to restore full operation
– Provide weekly maintenance reports and ad hoc reports as needed.
– Willing and able to work off hours, overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed.
– Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
– Ability to lift, push, or pull 50 lbs
– Ability to climb, lift, bend, push, pull, stoop, and twist
– Ability to use tools and equipment to repair and provide maintenance while standing, crouching, stretching, and extending extremities, potentially under extreme work conditions and/or environment from exposed heights
– Able to calibrate and maintain equipment to manufacturers' specifications
– Able to change priorities as needed to support the immediate needs of plant operations and complete scheduled maintenance activities
– Demonstrated knowledge of repairing and maintaining hydraulic and pneumatic systems
– Diagnose and test malfunctioning machinery and discuss plan to restore to full operation with key facility personnel
– Experience with organizing and maintaining an accurate spare parts inventory
– Good understanding of PLC controls
– Good understanding of steam generators and boiler operations
– Industrial experience in electrical and mechanical support functions
– Maintain the proper stock of tools and electrical parts to perform routine work. Must be able to read and understand electrical schematics and blueprints
– Must be knowledgeable of OSHA safety requirements, especially those related to electrical and mechanical operations and components
– Prepare maintenance reports for management as directed
– Strong mechanical maintenance experience and strong knowledge of hand and power tool usage
– Working knowledge of three phase motors, programmable controls, circuits, computer interfaces and National Electrical Code

Other Qualifications:
– Required education: HS diploma
– Required work experience in mechanics, welding, electrical engineering, machining, etc., HVAC/refrigeration systems a plus

Skills:
-Technical training in essential skills such as electrical, welding, precision machining, HVAC is a plus
-Continue to grow maintenance and leadership skillsets through assigned training
