This position is responsible for coordinating OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) requirements, completing environmental compliance reporting, and providing recommendations to the EHS Manager in the implementation of safety programs at a complex chemical manufacturing location. This position does not require direct experience with each of these tasks but must demonstrate how to manage complex regulations and coordinate different functional managers to fulfill the regulatory requirements. This position must be self-initiating to complete the tasks required for regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities:

  • PSM/RMP - Work with a variety of internal and third-party resources to identify discrete tasks required for PSM and EPA Risk Management Program (RMP) compliance. Implement and coordinate the completion of those tasks and maintain the proper documentation and files. Responsible for compliance with all Federal, State and Local requirements pertaining to OSHA Process Safety Management and EPA Risk Management Program requirements.

  • Environmental Program Compliance - Manage regulatory requirements and responsible for site air emissions, storm water permit, SPCC plan, and Wastewater permit.

  • Environmental Reporting – Responsible for completing the annual EPA reports including SARA Tier II, Pesticide Production Report, and Toxic Release Inventory.

  • EHS Program Implementation – Collaborate with the EHS Manager in the implementation and maintenance of safety programs.

  • Assist in developing the annual operating and capital budget for maintaining compliance with chemical safety and environmental regulatory requirements.

Experience-Education (Required):

  • Four-year degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in a technical field emphasizing math and science.

  • 2-5 years Environmental Health and Safety experience

  • Experience in a chemical manufacturing environment preferred with increasing responsibility regarding leading employees and implementation of production safety programs.

Competencies-Skills (Required):

  • Must possess strong leadership skills, problem solving skills, and decision-making skills, well organized, and the ability to create clear processes to manage the daily, monthly, and annual tasks.

  • Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills at various levels of the company.

  • Strong computer skills, including usage of Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

  • Effective communication skills for working cross-functionally in a fast-paced work environment.

Experience Preferred:

  • 5+ years Environmental Health and Safety Experience
