A Payroll Specialist is responsible for all aspects of the time and pay record process. Each clerk is responsible for adherence to government regulations and the proper storage of records.The Payroll Specialist works under the supervision of the Director, Finance Support, and is employed by Mosaic Life Care.

Duties

Interprets, implements and maintains standards pertaining to payroll.
Oversees the time and pay system for all caregivers by editing and processing time cards.
Sets up, maintains and/or test various pay and payroll deduction codes as needed within the time and pay systems
Calculates, verifies and deposits federal, state and local taxes meeting all deadlines.
Records and processes payments to outside agencies.
Provides information, support and training as needed to time and pay editors/approvers. Also provide payroll related reports to management and other areas on request
Maintains organized and efficient record storage of payroll information of both current files and off-line storage. Ensures that storage meets federal and state guidelines for document retention. Bears the responsibility for movement of old files to storage.

Qualifications

H.S. Diploma is required. College or technical courses in accounting, payroll or office administration preferred.
Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC)
2 Years of Payroll processing experience using computerized time-keeping and payroll systems.Large company/large organizations payroll experience preferred.Basic knowledge of payroll procedures, tax laws and garnishment rules necessary.Hospital/healthcare experience preferred.
