Summary
  • This position is responsible for implementing a unified and comprehensive fund development strategy for Mosaic Life Care. Will be responsible for building a donor-centered funding model and team to support the organizational strategy and drive fundraising efforts to achieve the greatest collective impact to enable the critical work of the organization and community. This position coordinates special projects or ongoing major funding programs. This position will conduct fundraising campaigns and identify opportunities to link organization programs and services with development efforts. Encourages individuals, corporations and to establish or contribute to special funds through endowments, trusts, donations of gifts-in-kind, or bequests. All operations are carried out in alignment with Mosaic Life Care's Mission/Vision/Values and Strategic Priorities.
  • This position is employed by Mosaic Health System.
Duties
  • Vision. The VP works under the advisement of the Heartland Foundation President to develop a vision that grows and expands funding for initiatives-assuring an appropriate combination of programs and services to meet the needs for Mosaic Life Care.
  • Building Partnerships. The VP develops strategies for maximizing donations and major gifts in both the short- and long-term. This leader will also manage special events and enlist volunteers to assist in fund solicitation activities.
  • Developing Talent. The VP will accomplish goals through effective selection, development and coaching of their organizational team. The VP continually seeks and applies best practice approaches in providing feedback through formal monthly and annual performance reviews and regular informal conversations. The VP uses critical conversations techniques to retain and grow high performers; to provide clarity and development for middle performers; and to improve or deselect low performers—and advocates the use of this approach to assure consistency of development and improvement of leaders and care givers reporting up through operations. The VP sees caregiver talent development, differentiation and succession management as an integral obligation and function of his or her role. The VP understands his or her role as a model for HEART behaviors.
  • Performance Management. The VP leads, administers and improves all aspects related to performance outcomes assuring achievement of top-line results and greatest collective impact. This leader understands the disciplines of performance measurement and management, and uses disciplined high-accountability approaches to accomplish goals. The VP engages direct report leaders and front-line caregivers in understanding, prioritizing and deploying best practice performance improvement methodologies to assure top performance outcomes. The VP also assures reports are accurate and timely for reporting to the Foundation President.
  • Fundraising and Fund Development. The VP is a key advocate to assure all funding and related programs are carried out in order to meet stakeholder needs and advance the vision. This leader clearly communicates the agenda to Donors. The VP works with the Foundation President and Donors to set priorities for creation of new programs, improvement of existing programs, and elimination of programs no longer meeting needs and goals. The VP conducts fundraising campaigns and identifies opportunities to link organization program and services with development efforts.
  • Administrative. The VP works with the Foundation President to oversee all donor contributions and related financial management.
  • Evidence-Based Leadership. The VP continually gathers information from a variety of sources to identify critical issues and problems and to develop breakthrough solutions. The VP understands the Evidence-Based Leadership model (Studer Group) elements and works with the leadership team to assure rigor in deployment of the methodology. This leader continually seeks knowledge related to best-practice; evidence-based leadership approaches and engages others through teaching, feedback and encouragement. The VP navigates through difficult, complex situations—helping to resolve ambiguity and inspire others to their best performance. The VP also assures that organizational structure and processes contribute to excellence and engagement across the system.
  • Innovation. The VP continually seeks to understand local, regional, state and national trends—political, social, and economic—impacting delivery and funding of health care and originates new, innovative approaches to assure the long-term sustainability of the system. The VP works with the Foundation President to assure that new initiatives align with the organization’s core business; is vigilant about due diligence processes and decisions driving programs and initiatives; and ensures that the right people are doing the right work.
Qualifications
  • All required education is a minimum requirement. Higher levels of education are acceptable. Bachelor's Degree required. Master's Degree preferred.
  • Ten (10) Years progressive leadership experience in a not-for-profit setting required and must Demonstrate a record of achievement in the following areas: Record of success in major philanthropic endeavors (capital campaign, annual giving, investor recruitment and retention, planned giving, endowment development, and government grants, and special events). In collaboration with others, develops and meets or exceeds performance metrics for the in alignment with the strategic priorities of the organization. Collaborates Foundation President to monitor results on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis and create plans to address gaps. Understands and values the use of scorecards to measure, monitor and accomplish goals. Continuously seeks ways to mitigate performance gaps. Understands how to create and deploy effective performance improvement strategies—using organizational resources to their best benefit. Understands the disciplines of performance improvement, including the internal PASTE model. Effectively engages organizational experts to assure optimum outcomes. In collaboration with others, creates and deploys plans to assure stakeholder satisfaction/engagement goals are met—particularly as regards patients, caregivers, healing ambassadors and medical staff. Effectively engages others in understanding and actively working toward high performance—energizing and motivating caregivers to confidently pursue desired outcomes.
