Summary
  • A chaplain at Mosaic Life Care Medical Center provides spiritual support to patients, loved ones and fellow caregivers. The chaplain provides spiritual care interventions for patients and their loved ones to alleviate suffering. The chaplain represents the value of spiritual care in the overall care of our patients and is a resource to area religious organizations. Chaplaincy is represented in ethics, organ and tissue donation, and palliative care. The chaplain facilitates the involvement of religious leaders in their care of their members when they are receiving medical care at Mosaic Life Care Medical Center. Chaplaincy services are accessible throughout Mosaic Life Care Medical Center at all times.
  • This position is employed by Mosaic Health System.
Duties
  • Provides spiritual care to patients and their loved ones as an integrated clinical team member and engages in the development and initiation of the patient’s plan of care and documents their interventions in the medical record.
  • Engages specific duties related to providing palliative care, end of life care support, organ and tissue donation and bereavement care.
  • Responds to referrals for Advance Care planning, provides education and facilitates the process of completing the documents.
  • Assists in the support of pastoral students as appropriate.
  • Initiates and sustains quality relationships with area clergy and congregations and participates in community religious and civic groups as appropriate to the position.
Qualifications
  • Baccalaureate and Seminary degree or equivalent from an accredited institution AND successful completion of one unit of Clinical Pastoral Education required; 4 units of CPE preferred.
  • Ecclesiastical endorsement or a letter of recommendation from ecclesiastical leader required within 90 days of hire;
  • Ordination or commission to function in a ministry of pastoral care and certification by a professional Chaplaincy certifying body preferred.
  • Pastoral experience in a congregational setting preferred.
