Details Clinical Training Coordinator AHEC/Rural Scholars Program Part Time Status Day Shift Pay: $46,675.20 - $70,012.80 / year Summary Mosaic Life Care participates in clinical training experiences for students to provide clinical rotations in community-based settings. Throughout the history of NWMO AHEC, priority is given to students from the NWMO region, providing them an opportunity to learn from healthcare providers in their home region and/or hometown. NWMO AHEC coordinates clinical training rotations for medical, nurse practitioner and physician assistant students who complete required clinical training rotations at Mosaic and in most hospitals in the Northwest Missouri AHEC region of 19 counties. This position coordinates health care profession student rotations, compiling and maintaining information required by accrediting bodies on liability insurance, immunizations, background checks, education, etc. This position also identifies and schedules appropriate preceptors for the students. This position must also develop or maintain a relationship with the sending professional schools (medical, NP or PA) to understand the requirements for the rotations, including preceptor approval processes, rotation objectives and length, requirements, and the evaluation process which vary with each school. Not only does this position need to have a knowledge of these requirements, but also helps keep the preceptors up to date. This position coordinates appropriate lectures that meet the school requirements. This position works with APRN Leadership Council regarding APRN student programs. This position identifies and develops, along with the Executive Director and Medical Director, clinical training sites, and the necessary affiliation agreements. This position provides an orientation to each clinical training student as they begin their rotations. The orientation includes any regulatory requirements at Mosaic Life Care, access to the electronic medical record, badge access to departments, contact with preceptors, etc. This position interacts with medical and administrative staff, educational institutions, health care profession students, and other community representatives throughout Missouri. This position also coordinates the availability at the student house, also ensuring the house is maintained. This position is also responsible for entering clinical rotation data into APEX, the Missouri AHEC statewide database, on all clinical training students and tracking student progress from health professions student to practicing provider. This position is employed by Mosaic Health System. Duties Serves as the point of contact for medical schools, nurse practitioner programs, and physician assistant programs desiring to schedule students in northwest Missouri. The Clinical Training Coordinator and schools communicate regarding rotations, requirements such as immunizations, background checks, liability insurance, affiliation agreements, etc to ensure all information is provided prior to the arrival of the student on site, meeting the requirements of Mosaic Life Care. Keeps complete files on students for review by regulatory/governing bodies as requested.. For nurse practitioner students, works with the APRN Leadership Council on the student and preceptor approval process, accepted accredited programs, and student or preceptor issues that arise. Medical students may rotate through NWMO AHEC for one month such as from UMKC or their entire third and fourth year. Each month requires that at least one preceptor is scheduled. Current knowledge of available preceptors, the Clinical Training Coordinator, the Executive Director, and AHEC Medical Director, make decisions on capacity for the next year, outlining the number of students for six to seven months from the University of Missouri or for the full third and fourth year assignments as from ATSU/Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine or Kansas City University. Decisions are also made on capacity for students between first and second years. Upon student assignment, prepares the schedule by confirming preceptor availability, and throughout the year providing reminders to preceptors, clinic managers, and students as appropriate. Serves as primary contact for students completing clinical rotations. Analyzes student needs regarding required rotations and electives and provides guidance for student issues. Assists MU students with community contacts and resources for Community Integration Projects. For the ATSU/KCOM students that includes proctoring exams, coordination of journal club, oral case presentations, biannual reviews, evaluations, and other assignments to meet the school’s requirements. Responsible for coordinating a lecture, journal club, and oral presentation schedule (which incudes requirements by the schools), with consultation with AHEC Medical Director, to meet the learning needs of the students. This also includes coordination with Missouri AHEC Program as it relates to the AHEC Scholars program and the core topic requirements for community-based students. Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in a related field required. Driver's Licence - Valid And In State required. 2 years experience with either a not–for-profit organization, a grant-dependent organization or a higher education setting required.
