Summary

  • This position is responsible for operationalizing and maintaining successful education programs for the Health Information Management (HIM) Department. This position should have exceptional communication skills in both verbal and written form as well as an above-average level of expertise in operating computer software including electronic health records. In addition to developing, planning, and leading HIM training initiatives, this individual's responsibilities also include aligning educational resources with strategic focus areas, researching, monitoring quality and performance metrics, keeping the HIM Director and managers apprised of results, and using data to identify and develop targeted opportunities for staff development.
  • This position works under the guidance and supervision of the HIM Director and is employed by Mosaic Life Care.

Duties

  • Trains caregivers in utilizing new and existing technology and adhering to updated processes.
  • Plans, coordinates, and conducts internal in-services and educational programming for HIM caregivers.
  • Provides one-on-one targeted training in response to performance deficiencies, and promotes a collaborative environment by addressing opportunities in a constructive and proactive manner
  • Creates training tools and staff assessment materials, including, but not limited to: manuals, presentations, scripts, competency tests, tip sheets, and evaluation rubrics
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • H.S. Diploma is required. Associate's Degree and Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
  • RHIT - Registered Health Information Technician, and RHIA - Registered Health Information Administrator is preferred.
  • 3 Years of Health Information Management, Healthcare Business Office, IT, or Education. Prior experience developing, instituting, and leading training programs, and Prior experience implementing and supporting HIM information systems is preferred.
