Summary
  • This position conducts financial counseling to include collection of co-pays, deductibles and payment arrangements for all Enterprise balances. Evaluates patient/guarantor for financial assistance, Cobra, and/or other 3rd party payor. Negotiates patient payment plans. Collects accounts receivable.
  • This position works under the direction of the Manager or Clinic Manager and is employed by Mosaic Health System.
Duties
  • Personal counseling to assist patient with medical payment arrangement. Interviews patient in order to secure payment/financing of patient’s monetary responsibility.
  • Interviews patient/guarantor to evaluate eligibility for Cobra, financial assistance, or other 3rd party payor for Mosaic Life Care (includes Clinic).
  • Negotiates payment plans for point of service collections and past balances for Enterprise.
  • Performs daily co-payment reconciliation for the Patient Access Services areas and the Financial Counseling Department.
  • Evaluates patient’s credit score to determine his/her financial ability to repay debt.
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Previous collection experience and 3 months to 1 year experience in Financial Counseling required. PC and Word computer experience, typing speed of 45 WPM and 10 key by touch preferred.
