Position Title Writing Coordinator
Job Description
The Writing Coordinator supervises all writing services offered by the Center for Academic Support, assists in its overall supervision, hires and trains tutors, and teaches general studies composition courses.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Selects, trains, supervises, and evaluates tutors, tutoring as needed.
  • Coordinates writing services offered by the Center for Academic Support.
  • Meets with faculty and staff to negotiate and implement new services to meet the academic needs of students.
  • Assists the Director of the Center for Academic Support and other Coordinators with the operation and administration of the Center.
  • Provides supervision of the Center including evenings.
  • Teaches one three-hour developmental or general studies composition course in the fall and spring semesters.
  • Plans and leads educational workshops, develops educational resources, as required.
  • Develops workshops for a variety of student groups; prepares and makes presentations for Registration Days, Griffon Edge and other on-campus organizations.
  • Maintains professional contacts and an awareness of practices and standards in the learning center field; stays current with relevant research.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • English composition and writing, prefer developmental writing experience and teaching
  • Learning assistance, teaching, and tutoring techniques
  • Computer applications; proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Teaching Experience
  • Supervision and management
  • Communication, as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc., sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
Required Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in English or English education or related field
  • Two (2) years of teaching, learning center, and/or supervisory experience

Sedentary Work
Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

F 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
