POSITION PURPOSE:

Located in St. Joseph, MO in the summer of 2025. This position requires an articulate, pro-active individual who can work independently as well as with other members of the ICM team. The intern will work in the Technology Development Scientist Group and will shadow lab Research Associates, and Scientists. This is a hands-on opportunity to work as part of a cross-disciplinary team made up of engineers, scientists, and research associates.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:

1. Preform basic lab tasks as assigned.
2. Work to understand complex functional situations by paying attention to the details of the tasks at hand.
3. Proactively develop and maintain broad knowledge of the technical disciplines in the functional area.
4. Operate pH meters, water baths, other laboratory and pilot scale equipment required by the protocol or requested by the supervisor.
5. Keep work area clean and orderly at all times.
6. Follow proper procedures and documentation for waste disposal.
7. Responsible for timely data entry into common computer programs such as Microsoft Excel, MS Word, and ICM’s LIMS.
8. Perform inventory of general lab supplies.

Education/Certification:

• High School Diploma required
• Must be currently enrolled as a student in a public or accredited private academic institution
• Majoring in Chemistry, Microbiology, Chemical Engineering or related technical field preferred

Required Knowledge & Experience:

• Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
• Knowledge of general office equipment
