Job Summary
The Business Accountant position will be responsible for all of the company’s financial responsibilities. This position serves as a crucial internal control and quality assurance measure. This includes but is not limited to the preparation, organization, and analysis of the company’s finances.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Prepare and/or analyze financial statements
- Monthly, quarterly, and yearly statements
- Analyze and complete audit testing on financial statement accounts such as cash, accounts payable, or fixed assets
- Perform account reconciliation and maintain accurate general ledger accounting
- Review payroll and ensure compliance with tax regulations both federal and state
- Working with CPA firm to keep accurate records of assets, liabilities, and equity
- Assist with business wills, trusts, and estate law matters as needed
- Conduct cash flow analysis to ensure the organization’s financial health
- Develop budgets and provide forecasting to support strategic planning
- Mentor staff members to enhance professional development for assistance and be backup
- Work closely with Office Manager and other personnel to reconcile account differences and analyze financial data and tax returns
- Analyze and review all tax returns for business and shareholders that are prepared by an outside PCA firm.
- Any other duties as assigned.
Required Skills
- Must have experience preparing financial statements and P&L statements to be provided to the CPA firm.
- Assets Accounting, including experience in tracking value and reporting on business assets to CPA firm
- Managing tax affairs with CPA firm and dealing with IRS and state notifications to stay in compliant and avoid potential penalties and issues.
- Knowledge of reviewing and approving S-CORP taxes, and company insurance
- Experience with business, individual, and shareholder income tax return preparation
- Must be able to do manual math/manual processes surpassing an accounting system
- Advance Excell skills
- Solid understanding of general ledger accounting practices
- Familiarity with payroll systems and compliance requirements
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with cross-functional teams and departments.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Attention to detail to ensure tasks are completed thoroughly and correctly.
- Must be able to type, sit for long periods of time, and lift up to 15lbs at a time.
- Able to come to work with a “will do” attitude
Desired Skills
- CPA Certificate
- Experience with running family business(es).
- Experience with S-CORP, trusts, K-1, Section 179, tax forms/credits/deductions, and tax laws
