| JOB TITLE: Aquatic Intern DEPARTMENT: Parks, Recreation & Civic Facilities DIVISION: Aquatics SALARY: $19.25 hourly CLOSING DATE: Until Filled Job Summary An internship is available in the Parks, Recreation and Civic Facilities Department, Aquatic Program. Under the supervision of the Aquatic/Recreation Manager, the intern will have the opportunity to explore various aspects of an aquatic program, while gaining the knowledge and hands-on experience needed to work in the aquatic field. Through this internship possible Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Employee Behavior and Conduct City employees (Interns) shall conduct themselves in a professional manner and shall exhibit and extend such professional conduct appropriate for the circumstances to those with whom they come into contact both internally and externally during the performance of their duties. Examples of professional conduct include, but not limited to, being communicative, informative, fair, honest and respectful. Required (Essential) Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Material and Equipment Directly Used Materials and equipment used in rescue procedure. First aid supplies. Supplies used in maintenance and cleanliness of the pool. There may be times when use of personal vehicle may be required. Working Conditions/Physical Requirements Work is performed in an outside setting and extreme heat. Must have the ability to routinely lift objects weighing as much as 20 pounds, occasionally lift objects weighing as much as 50 pounds or assist in lifting objects in excess of 100 pounds. Some overnight or day travel may be required for business purpose. Vacation and other leave scheduling shall be requested off and approved by the appropriate supervisor. Education Applicants must be seeking a Graduate or Undergraduate degree in Recreation, Sports, Fitness, Physical Education, Physical Therapy or related field in order to be considered for this position. All applicants must pass a drug screening and criminal background check prior to employment. Any job offer made by the City is contingent upon the applicant passing the drug screening and background check.
