Job Summary/Scope
Provides support and maintenance for City of Saint Joseph infrastructure systems and equipment, including but not limited to Desktops, Laptops, Line of Business Applications, Servers, Network Switches, Routers, and Firewalls.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Responsible for installation, maintenance and high-level troubleshooting of the City of Saint Joseph Technology Infrastructure including but not limited to: Servers, Data Storage, Data Protection, Network Switching, Network Routing, Firewall Configuration, Wireless Networks, Fuel Systems, Surveillance Systems, Door Access Control, VOIP Phone Systems, Low Voltage Wiring, and Power Management Systems
  • Responsible for installation, maintenance and high-level troubleshooting of the City of Saint Joseph Technology Support Solutions including but not limited to: Hypervisors, Data Protection, Multi-Form Authentication, VPN, System Imaging, System Monitoring and Management, Password Management, Video Conferencing, Website Hosting, Office365, and Law Enforcement Vehicle Communications
  • Provides high-level end user and systems support
  • Ensures proper and consistent documentation of systems and solutions throughout the Information Technology Department
  • Performs high-level Infrastructure troubleshooting and corrective maintenance
  • Assists with the monitoring of potential risks/opportunities of existing City of Saint Joseph technologies, and strives for continuous improvement

Other Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assists with the Emergency Operations Center when activated.
  • Answers phones, maintains files.
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned.

Material and Equipment Directly Used
Daily use of computers and other computer and printer equipment and appropriate tools used in the maintenance and repair of computers. There may be times when use of personal vehicle may be required.

Working Environment/Physical Requirements
Work is performed in an office setting with a controlled environment, however, can occasionally be in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic). Job can require long hours working at a computer terminal, or in tight quarters during installation of equipment. Occasionally lifts 10 to 20 pounds, with the occasional exertion of up to 100 pounds of force; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts, operating machines, operating motor vehicles or equipment and observing general surroundings and activities; work occasionally requires working in high, precarious places, exposure to outdoor weather conditions and exposure to the risk of electrical shock; Must be able to climb ladders.

Education
High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or closely related field preferred, or 5 or more years of experience in network administration or PC support.
