JOB TITLE: Operations Technician

Job Summary
Performs a variety of skilled tasks involving the set up and tear down of equipment and other resources, supporting events and functions and upkeep of the building, grounds and equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assists arena operations supervisor with maintenance of facility including repairs to bleachers, plumbing, electrical, HVAC and boilers.
  • Operates energy management system.
  • Performs maintenance and repair of equipment.
  • Works with promoters/clients to ensure event is set and maintained properly and monitors events.
  • Operates house sound, lights, and scoreboard electronics as needed.
  • Ensures cleanliness of facility to include all custodial responsibilities before, during and after events and functions.
  • Operates riding floor scrubber and forklift.

Other Duties and Responsibilities
  • Changes light bulbs and fuses as needed.
  • Reports need for major building and equipment repair.
  • Maintains storage area in safe and orderly fashion
  • Removes snow and cleans walk areas.
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Skills in communication essential.
  • Skills in directing temporary staff in cleaning, setup and tear down directions.
  • Knowledge of cleaning materials, methods, equipment and procedures.
  • Knowledge of some electrical and plumbing procedures and repair.
  • Ability to learn routine tasks quickly.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, which will include evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions.
  • One-year prior experience in a related field to provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

Material and Equipment Directly Used

Uses a variety of equipment including minor computer skills, forklift, scrubbers, vacuum, ladders, hand tools, sound, light, and scoreboard electronics, and other equipment related to the maintenance of Civic Facilities. There may be times when use of personal vehicle may be required.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements

Work is performed in an enclosed arena environment with a controlled temperature; variance may occasionally range from extreme heat to cold. Some outdoor exposure required. Physical activity includes prolonged standing, bending, stooping, lifting, walking and climbing. Exposure to environmental conditions such as dirt, dust, heat, cold and loud noise. Must have the ability to routinely lift objects weighing up to 30 pounds, occasionally lift objects weighing as much as 75 pounds or assist in lifting objects weighing in excess of 100 pounds. Some overnight or day travel may be required for business purposes. Vacation and other leave scheduling shall be requested of and approved by the appropriate supervisor.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent required.
All applicants must pass a drug screening and criminal background check prior to employment.
