| JOB TITLE: Laborer (Landfill) DEPARTMENT: Public Works & Transportation DIVISION: Landfill SALARY: $33,118.00/yr $15.92212/hr CLOSING DATE: Until filled Job Summary/ScopePicks up trash at landfill and from highways leading to landfill, cuts waste tires, recovers freon, cleans maintenance building and other related duties. Material and Equipment Directly UsedOperates a variety of hand tools and other equipment, such as, shovels, chain saw and brush and weed control equipment. There may be times when use of personal vehicle may be required. Working Environment/Physical RequirementsExposure to a variety of weather conditions, such as, extreme heat, cold, wind and rain. Frequent walking over uneven terrain; as well as, frequent periods of standing, stooping, walking, and bending. Occasional lifting of objects weighing 50 pounds or assisting in lifting objects in excess of 50 pounds. Work environment is frequently dusty due to landfill operations. Some overnight or day travel may be required for business purposes. Vacation and other leave scheduling shall be requested of and approved by the appropriate supervisor. EducationHigh school diploma or equivalent required. No experience necessary. All applicants must pass a drug screening and criminal background check prior to employment. Any job offer made by the City is contingent upon the applicant passing the drug screening and background check.
