Materials and Equipment Directly UsedOperates a variety of equipment including hand tools used in the maintenance of police vehicles. Battery charger, air tools, tire changers, and various other equipment as necessary. There may be times when use of personal vehicle may be required. Working Environment/Physical RequirementWork is mainly performed in a shop environment. Some outside work with exposure to weather extremes. Must be able to stand for long periods of time. Also requires such physical activities as climbing, stooping, kneeling and crawling. Must be able to operate equipment with dexterity. Exposed to environmental conditions such as dirt, dust, heat, cold, noise, fumes and hazardous materials and chemicals. Must have the ability to routinely lift objects weighing as much as thirty pounds, occasionally lift objects weighing as much as 75 pounds or assist in lifting objects weighing in excess of 100 pounds. Some overnight or day travel may be required for business purposes. Vacation and other leave scheduling shall be required of and approved by the appropriate supervisor. EducationHigh school diploma or equivalent required. All applicants must pass a drug screening and criminal background check prior to employment. Any job offer made by the City is contingent upon the applicant passing the drug screening and background check.
