JOB TITLE: Project Manager DEPARTMENT: Public Works & Transportation DIVISION: Engineering SALARY: $55,000/yr CLOSING DATE: Until filled Job Summary/Scope Oversees project and construction management of Public Works and other departmental projects throughout the City of Saint Joseph. Work involves administrative and technical assistance to the City Engineer. Essential Duties and Responsibility
Other Duties and Responsibilities Performs all other related duties as assigned. Employee Behavior and Conduct City employees shall conduct themselves in a professional manner and shall exhibit and extend such professional conduct appropriate for the circumstances to those with whom they come into contact both internally and externally during the performance of their duties. Examples of professional conduct include, but are not limited to, being communicative, informative, fair, honest, and respectful. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities A minimum of four years of experience in Public Works and two years of college focusing on civil engineering design, construction and project management Valid Driver's License required. Comprehensive knowledge of the principles and practices of operations, as applied to public works activities and projects within a city environment. Skill in public relations. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Must develop a general knowledge of City Code of Ordinances, State and Federal laws and regulations pertaining to general public works operations within six months from date of employment. Materials and Equipment Directly Used Uses a wide range of materials and office equipment such as computer with various software applications, printers, and copiers. Also uses a wide range of tools when conducting inspections on city contracts. There may be times when use of personal vehicle may be required. Working Environment/Physical Requirement Work is mainly performed in an office setting with a controlled environment. Required to perform field visits in a wide range of weather conditions. Must be able to routinely lift objects weighing up to thirty pounds, occasionally lift objects weighing 50+ pounds with assistance. Some overnight or day travel may be required for business purposes. Vacation and other leave scheduling shall be requested of and approved by the appropriate supervisor. Education Associate’s degree in civil engineering or related field required. Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field preferred. All applicants must pass a drug screening and criminal background check prior to employment.
