Position Title: Building Maintenance Technician Department: Health Department Division: Administration Salary: $35,932.5685/yearly; $17.27527/hourly Closing Date: Until filled Job Summary/Scope Performs general/light maintenance of all areas associated with Patee Market Health Center and St. Joseph Animal Services and responds to directions from direct supervisor or designee. This position is split between Animal Services (AM) and Patee Market Health Center (PM), with approximately four hours spent maintaining each location daily. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Required (Essential) Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Skills in general facility maintenance, inventory and supply, Ability to troubleshoot building maintenance problems and resolve. Ability to perform tasks with minimum supervision. Knowledge of electrical and plumbing repairs. Knowledge of and familiarity with a snow blower, floor buffer, generator, surveillance equipment and other maintenance equipment helpful or ability to learn within a reasonable time after employment. Knowledge of the basic equipment found in the office environment and exterior of building, including motorized equipment and power tools. Ability to monitor HVAC system and boiler and follow directions. Ability to respond to communications after working hours if needed. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Three years’ related work experience required. A valid Driver's License required. Material and Equipment Directly Used Use a variety of equipment for light custodial duties such as vacuum cleaner, sweepers, duster, broom and mop. Operates various machinery, equipment, hand and power tools, shovels, clippers, buffers, power washer, etc. on a frequent basis to repair and maintain a variety of electrical, plumbing, refrigeration and other general components of the facility. There may be times when use of personal vehicle may be required. Working Environment/Physical Requirements Work is performed in a variety of indoor and outdoor settings where weather conditions can vary from extreme heat and cold, with high levels of dust, dirt, fumes and noise. Physical activity includes prolonged standing, bending, stooping, lifting, walking and using arms and hands frequently. Must have the ability to lift objects weighing 75-100 pounds independently and assist in lifting objects weighing in excess of 100 pounds. Must have the ability to carry and maneuver a 14’ ladder and to climb a ladder to reach heights of 17’ or more to perform basic maintenance tasks, safely. Some overnight or day travel may be required for business purposes. Vacation and other leave scheduling shall be requested of and approved by the appropriate supervisor. Education High school diploma or equivalent required. All applicants must pass a drug screening and criminal background check prior to employment.
