Identification: POSITION TITLE: Senior Auto Mechanic DEPARTMENT: Parks, Recreation & Civic Facilities DIVISION: Park Maintenance SALARY: Negotiable CLOSING: Open until filled Job Summary: Repairs trucks, cars, tractor, mowers, and all motorized equipment. Rebuilds engines, transmissions, rear ends and fabricates tools and equipment. Supervisory Responsibility: Integral to the position of Senior Auto Mechanic is the responsibility for developing subordinates to their fullest potential by exercising appropriate degrees of coaching, training, guiding, evaluating, correcting and, if necessary, disciplining. Examples of professional conduct include, but are not limited to, being communicative, informative, fair, honest and respectful. Required (Essential) Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Material and Equipment Directly Used: Use of various hand tools, power tools, equipment used for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining vehicles and equipment. There may be times when use of personal vehicle may be required. Working Conditions/Physical Requirements: Majority of work is performed in an indoor garage as well as an outdoor environment, where weather conditions can vary from extreme heat and cold, with high levels of dust, dirt, fumes, and noise. Physical activity includes prolonged standing, bending, stooping, lifting, walking and uses arms and hands frequently. Must have the ability to lift objects weighing up to 50 to 75 pounds and assist in lifting objects weighing in excess of 100 pounds. Some overnight or day travel may be required for business purposes. Vacation and other leave scheduling shall be requested of and approved by the appropriate supervisor. Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Five or more years of prior experience required to provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. All applicants must pass a drug screening and criminal background check prior to employment.
