JOB TITLE: Operations Manager DEPARTMENT: Public Works & Transportation DIVISION: Water Pollution Control SALARY: $28.18510/hr ($58,625/yr) CLOSING: Open until filled Job Summary/Scope Monitors the daily operations of the wastewater treatment facility and personnel. Directly oversees the Operations staff and ensures operational compliance with federal, state and local environmental regulations. Resolves problems with equipment and personnel. Has a direct and indirect supervisory responsibility. Oversees the Land Application/Biosolids Program. Supervisory Responsibility Integral to the position of Operations Manager is the responsibility for developing subordinates to their fullest potential by exercising appropriate degrees of coaching, training, guiding, evaluating, correcting and, if necessary, disciplining. Material and Equipment Directly Used Uses a variety of office equipment including personal computer, telephone, 2-way radio, calculator, copier and other related office equipment. There may be times when use of a personal vehicle may be required. Working Environment/Physical Requirements This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 50 pounds of force; work frequently sitting, speaking or hearing, using hands to finger, handle or feel, reaching with hands and arms and repetitive motions and occasionally requires standing, walking, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, pushing or pulling and lifting; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts, using of measuring devices, operating machines, operating motor vehicles or equipment and observing general surroundings and activities; work occasionally requires working near moving mechanical parts, exposure to fumes or airborne particles, exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals, exposure to outdoor weather conditions, exposure to the risk of electrical shock and exposure to bloodborne pathogens and may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic). Education Four-year degree in microbiology, environmental science, engineering or closely related degree preferred. Related experience in same or closely related field may be substituted at two years for every year of education. All applicants must pass a drug screening and criminal background check prior to employment.
