Job Summary
Assists in scheduling, planning and organizing adult and children's activities. Supervises events and participants in the programs. Supervises all employees.

Supervisory Responsibility
Integral to the position of Assistant Center Manager is the responsibility for developing subordinates to their fullest potential by exercising appropriate degrees of coaching, training, guiding, evaluating, correcting and, if necessary, disciplining.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assists in planning and supervising special activities, events and sports tournaments as directed.
  • Responsible for supervising the center as well as training.
  • Prepares daily reports, deposits, and bi-weekly payroll.
  • Monitors and assists in scheduling fitness/exercise classes.
  • Responsible for employee scheduling.
  • Assists with all paperwork and answering phone.
  • Manages clientele files and general clerical duties.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assists in the general maintenance of building.
  • Aids in training and recruitment of employees.
  • Operates the center in absence of the manager.
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service to public and employees.
  • Skills in planning and scheduling a variety of activities.
  • Knowledge of basic computer software programs, standard office equipment.
  • Knowledge of various sports and rules associated to them.
  • Knowledge of CPR and first aid desirable.
  • Ability to learn specialized RecTrac software.
  • Ability to obtain First Aid/CPR/AED training certification from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association, or an equivalent nationally recognized course in First Aid/CPR/AED.
  • Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing to a wide variety of age groups.
  • Ability to learn REACH software program content.
  • Ability to assist in officiating sporting activities.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, which will include evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Valid driver's license required.
Material and Equipment Directly Used
Sports equipment used in the activities of each respective event scheduled at the Center. Operates standard office equipment including computer and related software. There may be times when use of personal vehicle may be required.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements
Work is performed under a variety of conditions ranging from an indoor setting with a controlled environment and limited outside setting with extreme heat and cold with dust, dirt, snow, ice and noise, while standing, bending, lifting and other physical activities. Routinely lifts objects weighing as much as 20 pounds, occasionally lifts objects weighing as much as 50 pounds or assists in lifting object weighing in excess of 75 pounds. Some overnight or day travel may be required for business purposes. Vacation and other leave scheduling shall be requested of and approved by the appropriate supervisor.

Education
High school diploma or equivalent required. Associates degree in recreation or related field preferred or one or more years of prior experience or any combination of formal education and work experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
