| Position Title: Building Maintenance Technician Department: Public Works & Transportation Division: Public Parking Salary: $33,946.00yr/$16.32019hr Closing Date: Until Filled Job Summary/ Scope Performs light maintenance and care of mechanical and electrical systems, painting and refinishing and regular custodial and building cleaning duties. Required (Essential) Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (continued) Must be able to use Volt/Ohm meter. Must have a valid operator’s license and be able to operate a small pavement sweeper in addition to light wheeled vehicles. Required to be on-call and/or carry a pager and respond to emergencies as needed. Materials and Equipment Directly Used Regularly uses a variety of cleaning equipment such as buffing machines, carpet sweepers, mops and brooms. Frequently uses hand tools to repair a variety of equipment including plumbing, electrical outlets, and air conditioning filters. Operates pick-up truck, snowplow, material spreader and small pavement sweeper. Operates push mower and weed eater. There may be times when use of personal vehicle may be required. Working Environment/Physical Requirements Most work performed in an indoor and outdoor environment. Work involves frequent lifting and moving of objects weighing from 30 to as much as 75 pounds. Requires periods of standing, bending, pushing of objects and other physical activity. Occasional use of off-the-shelf weed control and plant-feeding chemicals. Requires hand dexterity to operate a variety of hand tools, including small electrical tools. Requires average vision and some hearing ability. Some overnight or day travel may be required for business purposes. Vacation and other leave scheduling shall be requested of and approved by the appropriate supervisor. Employee Behavior and Conduct City employees shall conduct themselves in a professional manner and shall exhibit and extend such professional conduct appropriate for circumstances to those with whom they come into contact both internally and externally during the performance of their duties. Examples of professional conduct include, but are not limited to, being communicative, informative, fair, honest, and respectful. Education High school diploma or must be able to obtain within 6 months of employment. One to three years’ experience in a related field preferred. All applicants must pass a drug screening and criminal background check prior to employment.
