Based in St. Joseph, Mo., the Association is the largest single beef breed registry in the world, on the forefront of improvements in cattle genetics, while preserving the long-held farming and ranching traditions. The Events Coordinator plays a vital role in planning and execution of shows and events for the American Angus Association and the National Junior Angus Association (NJAA). Our perfect candidate will have exceptional communication and customer service skills. This candidate will be detail oriented, can multi-task, and thrive in a fast-paced environment. This candidate can easily and collaboratively work on a team and independently. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintains an in-depth knowledge of all department programs and NJAA activities, including NJAA membership rules and animal registration requirements for shows.
  • Planning and executing existing and new events and conferences, livestock exhibitions and junior programs. Including by not limited to: Beef Leaders Institute, Raising the Bar, Leaders Engaged in Angus Development.
  • Travels to ROV and NJAA Shows, as assigned, to represent the Association. Including but not limited to: Super ROV Shows, National Junior Angus Show, Regional Junior Previews, and educational conferences.
  • Maintains communications with State Associations.
  • Supports and mentors the NJAA Junior Board.
  • Works closely with Interns in the department.
  • Continuously improves the Association and junior programs.
  • Keeps the Director of Events and Junior Activities well-informed of activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Excellent communication skills, including telephone, written and presentation skills.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and execute multiple activities simultaneously.
  • Excellent customer service skills, including the ability to listen.
  • Proficient computer skills and in-depth knowledge of MS Office Suite and Zoom.
  • Must have exceptional organizational skills.
  • Highly resourceful team player, comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, sometimes under pressure, while remaining flexible, professional and pleasant.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Must be reliable and dependable.
  • A positive attitude and a willingness to learn is a must.
  • Willingness to take initiative and ownership in projects is essential.
  • Must be available to travel up to 50-60%, varying by season.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Associates degree in Business or Agricultural Science, or equivalent work experience.
  • Livestock show experience or show management experience preferred, but not required.
  • Previous event planning background is preferred, but not required.
  • An animal science or general agriculture or beef background is preferred, but not required.
