Job Description

Responsibilities

Altec is seeking a collaborative, analytical, and business-minded Business Intelligence Analyst to partner with business teams across the enterprise. This role combines business process understanding, data analysis, technical data skills, and project ownership to deliver trusted analytics solutions and reusable data products that drive business value.

The Business Intelligence Analyst supports Altec's Qlik reporting environment while also helping the organization define, validate, and release data products in Snowflake. The role requires someone who understands how data is created, transformed, connected, secured, and used across business processes, not just someone who can build dashboards.

This position works closely with business stakeholders, Data Engineers, Data Governance, and other technology partners to identify data owners, define requirements, document business logic, test data, coordinate access, support beta testing, and guide data products through release.

Key Responsibilities

Business Partnership & Requirements

  • Serve as a dedicated analytics partner for assigned business groups, building relationships and understanding business processes, priorities, and data needs.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to define requirements, metrics, KPIs, business rules, data ownership, and success criteria for analytics and data product efforts.
  • Help business groups assess their current data landscape, identify gaps, and determine where governed data products or analytics solutions would create value.
  • Translate business needs into clear functional requirements, data definitions, and implementation guidance for Data Engineering and related technical teams.

Data Product Design & Ownership

  • Lead the design and definition of data products that can be reused across reporting, analytics, and operational decision-making processes.
  • Analyze how data from multiple sources relates across business processes, including keys, joins, grain, calculations, filters, timing, and ownership.
  • Document source systems, business logic, data definitions, calculations, assumptions, quality expectations, and known limitations.
  • Act as the project owner for assigned data product releases by coordinating work from initial intake through production release.
  • Collaborate with Data Engineering and Data Governance teams to implement curated, governed data products

BI Platform Support & Analytics Delivery

  • Support and maintain Qlik applications, including troubleshooting, enhancements, operational support, and user guidance.
  • Design and develop dashboards, reports, and analytics solutions when the business need is best met through a BI application.
  • Help business users and embedded analysts understand and apply governed data products in reporting, analysis, and decision-making.
  • Contribute to documentation, standards, and best practices that improve consistency across analytics solutions and data product work.

Technical Requirements

  • Strong working knowledge of BI and analytics platforms, with Qlik experience preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience with SQL or equivalent query languages; ability to query, profile, validate, and troubleshoot data.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and translate data transformation scripts, reporting logic, or similar analytical code into documented business rules and data product requirements.
  • Strong understanding of how data is structured and related, including tables, keys, joins, grain, filters, aggregations, calculations, and data quality considerations.
  • Experience working with relational databases, cloud data platforms, or enterprise data warehouses; Snowflake experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate business requirements into technical requirements, data definitions, data validation steps, and release criteria.
  • Experience testing data for accuracy, completeness, reasonableness, and alignment to business expectations.
  • Experience using project tracking or agile delivery tools such as Jira is valuable.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business analytics, information systems, computer science, data analytics, or related field strongly preferred and 2 years of relevant experience
  • Alternative: Exceptional candidates with 4+ years of relevant work experience will be considered.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Experience in business intelligence, analytics, data analysis, data product delivery, or related data roles preferred.

Professional Competencies

  • Strong analytical thinking with the ability to understand data, business processes, and operational context.
  • Curiosity about how data is created, transformed, connected, governed, and used by the business.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain data concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong business analysis skills, including requirements gathering, facilitation, documentation, and stakeholder alignment.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy, data quality, clear documentation, and consistent business logic.
  • Customer-service mindset with strong interpersonal skills and a willingness to support users through change.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and stakeholder expectations while adapting to changing priorities.
  • Continuous improvement mindset with the ability to identify better ways to deliver analytics, data products, and business value.

Additional Information

  • Travel requirement: 0-25%.
  • May require occasional work outside standard business hours.
  • Position level may be adjusted based on candidate qualifications.
